Economy
For decades, the municipality of Stara Pazova has been well known as a place of entrepreneurs. More than 40 years ago, numerous craft shops made Stara Pazova one of the first and most successful municipalities where small business could thrive in the former Yugoslavia. Today, there are over 800 enterprises in the municipality (primarily in Stara Pazova and Nova Pazova) and about 2,500 craft shops. Various industrial activities are undertaken including metal processing, plastic processing, rubber processing, wood processing and construction.
Thanks to the exceptional natural conditions and 30,000 hectares of fertile land, agriculture is one of the most important economic activities for the municipality of Stara Pazova. Arable farming is the principal activity and wheat, corn, sunflower, barley, soybean and sugar beet are grown. Livestock farming is also important, primarily cattle and pig breeding. There is great potential for expansion in the agricultural sector, not least because of the municipality’s proximity to markets in Belgrade and Novi Sad, as well as export opportunities.
Industrial zones
The new regional plan for Stara Pazova further facilitates economic development of industrial zones in three settlements: Stara Pazova, Nova Pazova and Krnješevci.
Stara Pazova
The industrial zones in Stara Pazova cover a total area of 496 hectares and are located in several villages around Stara Pazova. Almost all are comprehensively served by good, a water supply system and waste disposal system and with optical fibre communication networks. Their proximity to the international highway Belgrade-Budapest(E-75) makes them particularly attractive.
Nova Pazova
The industrial zones in Nova Pazova cover a total area of 415 hectares and are fully equipped with basic infrastructure: water supply system, sewage, gas, optical cable, electricity and the internal road infrastructure. The work zone in Block 25 on the old highway Belgrade-Novi Sad (M22) is a shining example of a well-organised industrial zone.
Krnješevci
Judging by the interest of many foreign and domestic companies, this zone is one of the most attractive in the region. It is next to the international highway Belgrade-Zagreb E-70; it is 20 km from Belgrade and 12 km from the Belgrade airport of “Nikola Tesla”. Currently, it covers an area of 47 hectares, but the total area will eventually reach 660 hectares.
The existing infrastructure (47 hectares) includes internal roads with easy access to the highway M-22/1, electricity, fibre optics, and a partial water supply system. A gas and sewer system is planned.
Domestic and foreign companies have already occupied half of the available capacity of Stara Pazova’s Industrial Zones. And there is great interest in second half, not least due to the positive experience of companies who have already chosen to invest here, companies which include Mercedes, Nestle. Husquarna, Volvo, Milšped and Alumil
